Privacy Policy

NOVA ("we," "our") is a bilingual Bible verse memorization app. This page explains what information we collect, why, how we use it, and how to reach us about it. NOVA is used by children through the parent/child account system described below, so we treat the app as partly directed at a children's audience, and this policy reflects that.

    Information We Collect

We only collect what's needed to run NOVA:

    • Account and profile: name, email address, phone number (optional, entered by you), preferred language, and other profile preferences.
    • Practice and progress: the verses assigned to you, your practice session history, your day streak, XP, level, and achievements.
    • Parent and child account data: for a parent account, the child profiles you create; for a child account, a name, age, and a 4-digit PIN (see "Children's Privacy" below).
    • Account identifier: an internal ID used to link your data within the app.

    What we do not collect:

    • No audio or voice recordings. Verses are read aloud using your own device's built-in text-to-speech — no audio is ever generated, saved, or transmitted to our servers.
    • No location data.
    • No access to your contacts, camera, or microphone.
    • No advertising identifiers, and no third-party analytics or advertising tools anywhere in the app.

    Children's Privacy

NOVA is designed for children to use through the parent/child account system:

    • Parents create and manage their children's profiles from their own account. A parent account never practices itself — it's for management only.
    • Child accounts have no email address or password. They sign in using a private link and a 4-digit PIN, which only the parent receives (once, at creation) and can share with their child.
    • The PIN is stored as an irreversible cryptographic hash — even we can't see or recover the original PIN once it's created.
    • A child's practice data is used solely to run their own memorization practice within the app, and is visible to their linked parent (progress, streak, level) for supervision, and to administrators who assign verses.
    • We don't knowingly collect more from children than described above, and we show no advertising and use no third-party analytics anywhere in the app — this applies equally to every account, including children's.
    • A parent can view, edit, or remove their child's profile at any time from their parent dashboard, and can regenerate a child's PIN if needed.

    How We Use Email

We use Resend as our email provider for transactional purposes: account verification, password reset, and notifications when new verses are assigned to you. You can unsubscribe from non-essential notification emails via the link included in those emails; password-reset emails, being security-related, are always sent.

    Data Sharing

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing. We use a small number of service providers to run NOVA, who process data strictly on our behalf:

    • Neon — our database hosting.
    • Resend — sending transactional email.
    • Vercel — application hosting.

None of these providers use your data for their own purposes.

    Data Retention

We keep your account's data for as long as your account stays active, so your progress and practice history are preserved between visits. We do not automatically delete accounts or data after a period of inactivity. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time (see below).

    Your Rights and Requesting Deletion

You can delete your own account and all associated data at any time from My Profile → Danger zone in the app — see our account deletion page for the detailed steps and what happens to a parent account's child profiles. If you can't sign in, email us at gatchouarthur@gmail.com and we'll process the deletion manually. For any request to access or correct your data, email us at the same address.

    Security

Passwords and children's PINs are stored using industry-standard one-way cryptographic hashing — never as plain text.

    Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as NOVA changes. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
